Youth
Dedicated to creating an authentic environment for students to connect with God in a real and powerful way.
Students in Grades 6 - 12 gather every week to focus on the truth of God's word and the grace we have received through Jesus. We are a people who believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We worship as a community through music, games, teaching, discussion, and prayer.
DUMC Youth Mission Statement
Belong, Grow, Impact
-
Our hope is for every young person to know they have a place to belong. In our pandemic/post pandemic phase of ministry, now more than ever we are seeing a wide variety of young people: familiar faces and new faces. It is our goal to create and facilitate a place where all who walk through our doors know they are loved by their church family and by God. Our hope is for young people to feel safe. We can accomplish this by giving them an opportunity to be surrounded by a community of peers and caring adults who follow Christ.
-
Our hope is for every young person to be provided with an opportunity to encounter Christ and grow in their faith. All young people need guides in their lives to help them with “meaning making”. Life is challenging, and we want our young people to see the world through the lens of their faith. It is our goal to walk alongside young folks so we can help them learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ. We know we can achieve this with the help of caring adults in our ministries. Mentors who are devoted to growing in their own faith can help young people become well rounded with an ability to navigate life- knowing they have a support system.
-
Our hope is for these young people to continue growing and maturing in their faith so they become disciples who make disciples. We hope for them to embody and live out their faith- that their faith would be an essential part of how they understand themselves and the world. It is our goal for these young people to be empowered to become people who lead out of their God given gifts. We believe God works through people of all ages to bring the kingdom of God to earth.

Confirmation
Confirmation is a special rite of passage and we hope that this year will be both helpful and impactful for your child. We are honored to walk with you and your child during this time of faith formation. Thank you for giving us the opportunity!
What does being a part of a church really mean?
Confirmation at DUMC is for students in Grades 8 - 12. This program is designed to help educate students on what exactly being part of the church means. They will be able to hear stories, read Scriptures, and ask questions about faith. Ultimately, our goal is that students will end class having a better understanding of church and feeling more connected to DUMC.
Membership in the Church
The focus of Confirmation is on the students. It is also a time for parents to experience newness in their own faith journey. At the conclusion of Confirmation, students will be confirmed as members of our church. If you are not currently members of DUMC, we highly encourage you to become members as well.
