Youth Ministries

Follow us:

Dedicated to creating an authentic environment for students to connect with God in a real and powerful way.

Students in Grades 6 - 12 gather every week to focus on the truth of God's word and the grace we have received through Jesus. We are a people who believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We worship as a community through music, games, teaching, discussion, and prayer.

DUMC Youth Mission Statement

  • DUMC Youth will accept everyone, serve others, grow in faith together, and promote love in all we do.

DUMC Youth Values

  • Respect - In our speech and action, we respect those a part of our ministry and those we are serving. Respect covers a multitude of issues.
  • Community and Friendship - Everyone wants a place where they belong. A safe and warm home allows students to be themselves and grow not only closer with friends, but to God.
  • Safe & Loving Environment - DUMC Youth is a safe place for students to explore who they are and what their faith means in their lives. Our ministry is shaped by our Safe Sanctuary policy and all adult ministry leaders complete background checks to serve.
  • Purpose and Self-Worth - We affirm a strong sense of self-worth based only on the work of Christ on the cross.
  • Teaching and Learning - The truth of the Bible is vital for our development as believers. We make it a priority to unpack the lessons, wisdom, and hope of Scripture.

Middle school (grades 6 - 8) and high school (grades 9 - 12) small groups are currently taking place for Davidson UMC Youth. Both groups meet from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Youth Center, in the new building, where a snack breakfast is also provided. Following small group, we will walk over and attend the 11:00 a.m. worship service together.

Sunday Night Youth Group

4:30 - 6:00 p.m. in the Molly McKay House

Sunday evenings are designed to help sixth through twelfth-grade students grow their faith as well as give them a place to learn from each other and form authentic relationships. Each week, we create a high energy atmosphere and develop students through interactive games, worship, mentoring, discussion groups, and relevant teachings crafted to guide them through the challenges of their everyday lives.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a special rite of passage and we hope that this year will be both helpful and impactful for your child. We are honored to walk with you and your child during this time of faith formation. Thank you for giving us the opportunity!

What does being a part of a church really mean?

Confirmation at DUMC is for students in Grades 8 - 12. This program is designed to help educate students on what exactly being part of the church means. They will be able to hear stories, read Scriptures, and ask questions about faith. Ultimately, our goal is that students will end class having a better understanding of church and feeling more connected to DUMC.

Membership in the Church

The focus of Confirmation is on the students. It is also a time for parents to experience newness in their own faith journey. At the conclusion of Confirmation, students will be confirmed as members of our church. If you are not currently members of DUMC, we highly encourage you to become members as well.
