Melanie earned her BA in Interdisciplinary Reading at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas.  She has certifications in elementary education and English as a second language.  She was an elementary school teacher in grades 1, 2, 3, and 4 grade, as well as, as a reading teacher and ESL teacher for grades K-4.  She stayed home to raise her two boys and has most recently been substitute teaching at a couple of preschools. 

Melanie is originally from Texas but has lived in six states.  She currently lives in Cornelius with her husband and her two boys.  Her oldest son is a sophomore in college and her youngest is a senior in high school.  In her free time, she enjoys hiking, being outdoors, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
