Jan has been working with children of all ages for over twenty-five years.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an early childhood exemption certificate from Seminole Community College. She has served as the Director of Christian Education and Children's Ministry at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius.  This included leading weekly chapel lessons for the Bethel Weekday Preschool.  She also taught a Friday enrichment class focusing on character development for their pre-k class.  Before that, Jan served as Program Coordinator for Children's Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Orlando and for nine years as lead teacher in the pre-k class at the First Presbyterian Weekday School. 

Jan was also employed as the Preschool Department Manager of FAO Schwarz (Orlando) and managed bookstores in both Pennsylvania and Florida.
