Haiti Relief: What Can I Do?

The best things we can do to help the people of Haiti are to pray and to make a donation to a reputable charity with longstanding operations in Haiti.

Checks made payable to DUMC, note “Haiti Emergency,” will be sent to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), where 100% of the money makes it to Haiti.  In addition to UMCOR, the Red Cross, and Samaritan’s Purse are examples of other charities with operations in Haiti worthy of your consideration.

If you wish to do something besides send money, The Western North Carolina Conference suggests making health kits that will be needed for the long-term in Haiti.  Assembled kits can be placed in the marked bins beside the Connection Center or outside the church office.

Second, through Stop Hunger Now, fund and/or pack meals; click on the link to learn how to coordinate a meal-packing event.  We are already planning to pack 10,000 meals on Saturday, March 27, during our Annual Great Day of Service.
